Traveling Tips for the Puget Sound Garden Fling

Point Ruston with view of Mt. Rainier

We will begin our Fling event with a Thursday evening, 7/18, welcome reception at Point Ruston on the Tacoma waterfront. The buses will load at 5 PM from the Hotel Murano, which will be our home base for the garden tour. The Fling tour will end on Sunday, 7/21, arriving at the hotel around 6 PM. If you are attending the Monday tour of Seattle gardens, our day will end around 6:30 PM (depending on traffic).

For those of you who are flying into Sea-Tac Airport, there are several ways to get to the Hotel Murano.

After you have collected your luggage at Baggage Claim, follow signs directing you to Ground Transportation, located on Level 3 of the parking garage. Ground Transportation is accessed via the Skybridge on Level 4. Available transportation options include taxis, app-based rideshares and shuttles.

Shuttle to Downtown Tacoma  (This is just one of many shuttle services where you can book a reservation and be dropped off at the Hotel Murano).

Note: On Paula’s last trip from SeaTac Airport to Seattle, a taxi was less expensive than Uber.

The weekend of the Fling is a busy one, so many area hotels are filling up quickly. If you haven’t booked a hotel reservation yet, we suggest that you search online to find the best accommodations for your needs.

As we get closer to July, we will post more information on restaurants and places to visit during your stay in Tacoma. Stay tuned for posts about the many wonderful gardens we’ll be visiting in the Puget Sound area!

What/where is the July 18 reception location? My plane lands at 5 and I plan to take a taxi directly to the venue.

If anyone needs transportation to the airport after the Fling, let me know. I'll be there with a 15-passenger van. I have a tour group finishing at Seattle airport on Day 2 of the Fling. I'm parking the van during the Fling but happy to take people to the airport at the end. My email is Tour2ExploreMore@gmail.com if you might want a ride to the airport at the end, let me know

Just to be clear - when you say Sea-Tac you mean the Seattle International Airport, right? I want to be sure I got tickets to the right place!

Hi Natalie - yes, that's correct. Sea-Tac = SEA = Seattle International Airport. The physical location is between Seattle and Tacoma. Looking forward to welcoming people into our little slice of paradise, the Pacific Northwest!
